COD4 crashing when loadin level. (uninstall question)?

John Kill Bill asked in Q&A:

Ok, so no matter what i do, change settings, start in safe mode, re-install drivers ect. The game crashes at exactly the same spot. When loading “One Shot, One Kill’. Before getting to this point it ran great. I have a pretty awesome setup so its not a hardware issue. So if anyone has any ideas about this please help.

My other question is if I uninstall COD4 and re-install the game will I lose my saved progress?

My system is
XFX 680i LT mobo
8800gt 512mb Video Card
4GB 800MHZ Ram
C2D 2.66Mhz
XP 64bit

All drivers are up to date.
2.66 ghz not mhz lol…
My audio card is a sound blaster xfi gamer so thats not it. I have all on board audio devices disabled.
I did not see any option to repair the installation. Just uninstall…

You didn’t mention your audio card.

If it’s internal to the mother board, turn it down. Instead of 44Hz, use the 22Hz and make it mono instead of stereo or 5.1 speakers or even Windows default.

If the progress goes better, go up a little in quality at a time until you start crashing again.

Normally COD games should ask on a reinstall /repair if you want to keep your saved games.
