The rest I am not sure of..but I did put in a new hard drive on a computer before and installed everything on it and it wasn't difficult. I too have an HP laptop too .....but it is only 2 years old. I had to reformat it last week due to a virus I had gotten..probably grandchildren got it when they were playing on it. ...it was zlob...a HORRIBLE virus to get..no cure! Next time they can play on the desktop one..it is older and I could use a new one of those too! hahahaha Good luck...
