My Computer Keeps Crashing?

Confused Kitty asked in Q&A:

My computer screen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_display goes black after a certain amount of time, it crashes a few times as long as I dont play any of my computer games, but once I login to the games it crashes more.

Ive done a defrag, my virus scanner finds nothing.

When it does go black if there is sound going it sounds like a broken record I don’t understand whats going on ive updated the video drivers sound drivers and such.. people have said to do a system restore http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_Restore but i dont want to go there yet..if its an hardware issue..

My components are

Intel Core http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core 2 Duo 6400 @ 2.13GHz
1.60GHZ, 3.50 GB of RAM (technically 4 GB but windows XP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_XP doesn’t recognize it)
Windows XP Professional
Graphics Card http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphics_processing_unit is
GeForce EVGA Nvidia 7600 GS
my Motherboard http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motherboard is
Gigabyte S-Series
GA-EP35C-DS3R

My Ram is Kingston 1GB if there is any other details that need to be provided please let me know I’m trying to look up my information that i have on the ram but it’s taking some time to find it
It’s a custom built computer.
And what is there to do.. without having to actually travel.

Contact a computer hardware store, they usually can find if it is a virus, or something else!
