Registry Repair?/?

C. G. asked in Q&A:

All day every day I get pop-up messages that tell me it has found critical system errors and that if I don’t repair them then my computer might…(everything bad). when I visit the website on the message it wants me to buy a clean-up program. Do I need this?

It started happening about two months ago…a little after it started I had a system crash due to power outage and had to reboot from original shipped files… it still popped up… I have tried system restore a few times but hasn’t worked.
I am connected to the internet at start-up(roadrunner)…but it does pop up even when not using internet

Any recommendations?????????

Go to Lavasoft and for a small fee you can get Ad-aware with Adwatch that will keep any ads off your desktop. Ad-aware is a fine program to run weekly to eliminate tracking cookies and adware.

It sounds like your system is infected with malware. The best solution is to get it cleaned up. The easiest way to clean it up is to take it to a professional shop, much like the GeekSquad. You’ll pay a nice price but you’ll be gauranteed its cleaned up and have a 30 day warrantee. Otherwise you may try and clean it up your self using one of two methods. 1) Running the clean up tools your self. The down side to this method is that it’s time consuming and if not done properly its a waste of time. 2) Format and re-install. This method is the worst because you’ll loose any personal information and it’s just a pain in the butt… but it does work. if you choose to do number one you can search yahoo answers for other questions on spyware, I know for sure i’ve detailed how to go about cleaning up you system. Other wise, its too long for me to want to write at the moment. Good luck!

    You may also try:
Spybot and AVG. Free from Downloads.com or Tucows.com or majorgeeks.com

You have an Extortion Ware program and the program they want you to buy from them is totally useless. Go here and run the programs and do the procedure she lists.

Its called Adware or spyware. DO NOT EVER answer those ads. They will eventually lead to their site, where they will infect u with more. NEVER BUY their program. Its a scam. They are fooling you. Least u can do is download an anti spyware program. Spybot-Search and destroy is an excellent one .You can download it from. Download it and scan using this. U will get rid of the program. There are more anti-spyware programs. the best ones are always free. Spybot’s free.
